Face
Jawline
What changes happen to the jawline?
A well-defined jawline is created by much more than bone structure alone. Skin quality, collagen, muscle tone and the deeper supporting tissues all contribute to how defined—or softened—the lower face appears.
Over time, changes in these structures can reduce definition, soften the jawline and alter facial proportions.
Why does it happen?
Loss of jawline definition may be influenced by:
- Reduced collagen and elastin
- Skin laxity
- Changes in the deeper supporting tissues
- Bone remodelling
- Muscle activity
- Weight fluctuations
- Genetics
- Natural ageing
Why treating the cause matters
For most people, several of these changes occur together.
A softer jawline doesn’t always mean volume has been lost.
For some people, the primary change is reduced collagen and skin support. For others, skin laxity, muscle activity or changes in deeper structures have a much greater influence on definition.
Treating every jawline in the same way may not produce the most natural result.
Understanding what is changing allows us to recommend the most appropriate treatment—or combination of treatments—to restore natural definition while preserving facial harmony.
How do we assess it?
Every consultation begins with understanding.
Your assessment may include:
- Medical consultation
- Full facial assessment
- Dynamic facial assessment
- Medical photography
- Advanced skin analysis
- Assessment of skin quality and facial support
- Review of previous treatments
Our approach
Rather than looking only at the jawline itself, we assess the face as a whole to understand what is contributing to the loss of definition.
We don’t believe every jawline needs more volume.
Our approach focuses first on improving support. Depending on your individual assessment, this may involve stimulating collagen, tightening the skin and improving the deeper structures that naturally define the lower face before considering other treatments.
Advanced technologies such as Ultherapy PRIME and XERF often form the foundation of this approach by encouraging collagen production and improving skin support over time. Where appropriate, regenerative treatments or carefully selected injectable treatments may complement these technologies to achieve the most natural outcome.
Every recommendation is evidence-based, carefully sequenced and designed to restore definition while preserving your natural facial proportions.

Zarya Insight
A naturally defined jawline is rarely created by adding more. More often, it comes from restoring the structures that support it. Improving skin quality, stimulating collagen and tightening the deeper tissues frequently achieve more elegant, longer-lasting results than volume alone.
