2.2.3.6 · Face
Cheeks
What changes happen to the cheeks?
The cheeks play a central role in facial balance, support and youthful contours. Over time, changes in collagen, bone, fat and skin quality can reduce definition through the midface, making the face appear flatter, heavier or more tired.
These changes may also contribute to concerns elsewhere, including the under-eye area, nasolabial folds and lower face.
Why does it happen?
Changes in the cheeks develop gradually as the face ages.
These may include:
- Reduced collagen production
- Changes in facial fat compartments
- Bone remodelling
- Skin laxity
- Genetics
- Weight fluctuations
- Hormonal changes
- Natural ageing
Why treating the cause matters
Loss of cheek definition is rarely caused by volume loss alone.
For some people, reduced collagen and skin support are the primary drivers. For others, changes in deeper facial structures, skin laxity or overall facial proportions contribute more significantly.
Understanding what is changing allows us to recommend the most appropriate treatment—or combination of treatments—to restore support, improve facial balance and achieve natural-looking results.
How do we assess it?
Every consultation begins with understanding.
Your assessment may include:
- Medical consultation
- Full facial assessment
- Medical photography
- Advanced skin analysis
- Assessment of facial proportions and structural support
- Review of previous treatments
Our approach
Our approach begins with understanding what is driving the concern.
Depending on your individual assessment, we may recommend collagen stimulation, regenerative treatments, skin tightening technologies or carefully selected injectable treatments. Where appropriate, several approaches may be combined as part of a carefully sequenced treatment strategy.
Every recommendation is evidence-based, carefully sequenced and tailored to your individual anatomy, with the aim of restoring support while preserving natural facial harmony.

Zarya Insight
The cheeks do far more than create facial volume. They provide support for the surrounding structures of the face. Improving that support can often enhance the appearance of the eyes, nasolabial folds and jawline at the same time, creating results that look balanced, natural and age appropriately.
