Chronic Stress

What is stress and burnout?

Stress is a natural physiological response that helps the body adapt to challenge. In the short term, it can improve focus, performance and resilience.

Burnout is different. It develops when stress becomes prolonged and recovery becomes insufficient, leaving the body and mind struggling to keep pace with ongoing demands.

Over time, chronic stress can influence energy, sleep, mood, concentration, hormones, metabolism and overall wellbeing.

Why does it happen?

Stress and burnout rarely have a single cause. Often, several factors interact over time.

  • Work and lifestyle demands
  • Poor sleep
  • Chronic psychological stress
  • Hormonal changes
  • Nutritional deficiencies
  • Lack of recovery
  • Physical illness
  • Caring responsibilities
  • Major life events

Why understanding the cause matters

Feeling overwhelmed isn’t always simply a result of having too much to do. Poor sleep, hormonal changes, nutritional deficiencies, chronic stress and other medical conditions can all contribute to symptoms that feel remarkably similar.

Understanding what is driving your symptoms allows us to distinguish between temporary stress, burnout and other health concerns, helping us build a strategy that is appropriate for your individual circumstances.

How do we assess it?

Every assessment begins with understanding. Our goal is to understand not only how stress is affecting you, but what may be reducing your ability to recover.

  • Comprehensive medical consultation
  • Lifestyle assessment
  • Stress and recovery assessment
  • Sleep assessment
  • Advanced blood biomarkers
  • Hormonal assessment
  • Nutritional review
  • Medical and family history

Our approach

Managing stress isn’t simply about reducing stress.

We assess how your body is responding to the demands placed upon it. Depending on your individual picture, we may recommend lifestyle strategies, sleep optimisation, nutritional support, hormonal assessment, mindfulness practices or further medical investigation where appropriate.

Our aim is to improve resilience as well as recovery—helping you feel and function at your best over the long term.
