Brain Fog & Cognitive Performance

What is brain fog?

Brain fog isn’t a medical diagnosis, but it is a term many people use to describe persistent difficulties with concentration, memory, mental clarity or focus.

It can make everyday tasks feel more demanding, reduce productivity and leave you feeling mentally fatigued, even when you’ve had adequate rest.

Why does it happen?

Brain fog can have many different causes. Often, several factors contribute simultaneously.

  • Poor sleep
  • Chronic stress
  • Hormonal changes
  • Nutritional deficiencies
  • Thyroid disorders
  • Chronic inflammation
  • Certain medications
  • Genetics
  • Lifestyle and environmental factors

Why understanding the cause matters

Brain fog isn’t always simply a problem with concentration. It may reflect poor sleep, nutritional deficiencies, hormonal changes, chronic stress, metabolic health or an underlying medical condition.

Understanding what is contributing to your symptoms allows us to investigate appropriately, identify reversible factors and build a strategy that supports both cognitive function and long-term health.

How do we assess it?

Every assessment begins with understanding.

  • Comprehensive medical consultation
  • Cognitive symptom history
  • Lifestyle assessment
  • Medical and family history
  • Advanced blood biomarkers, including iron studies, vitamin B12, folate, vitamin D, thyroid function, hormonal markers and inflammatory markers
  • Sleep assessment where relevant
  • Body composition analysis
  • Genetic insights, including methylation and nutrigenomic testing
  • Referral for neurological or specialist assessment where indicated

Our approach

Your brain doesn’t function in isolation. Cognitive performance reflects the health of multiple systems working together.

Depending on your assessment, your strategy may include improving sleep, addressing nutritional deficiencies, supporting hormonal health, optimising lifestyle factors and investigating underlying medical conditions where appropriate.

Every recommendation is evidence-based, carefully prioritised and tailored to help you think more clearly, improve resilience and function at your best over the long term.

Zarya Insight

Mental clarity doesn’t depend on the brain alone. Sleep, nutrition, hormones, inflammation and overall health all influence how we think, concentrate and perform.
