Skin Conditions
Acne
What is acne?
Acne is one of the most common skin conditions, affecting people of all ages—not just teenagers. It can present as blackheads, whiteheads, inflamed spots, cysts or deeper nodules, and may affect the face, chest and back.
While acne often resolves with time, persistent inflammation can lead to pigmentation, scarring and long-term changes in skin quality if left untreated.
Why does it happen?
Acne develops when several biological processes occur together.
These may include:
- Increased oil production
- Blocked pores
- Inflammation
- Hormonal changes
- Genetics
- Skin bacteria
- Lifestyle and environmental factors
- Certain medications
Why treating the cause matters
The combination of these factors is different for every individual.
Acne isn’t simply about blocked pores.
For some people, hormones are the main driver. For others, inflammation, skincare habits, medication or lifestyle factors may play a greater role.
Treating active breakouts without understanding what is driving them may improve the skin temporarily, but it may not reduce recurrence or prevent future pigmentation and scarring.
Understanding the cause allows us to choose the most appropriate treatment strategy and support healthier skin over the long term.
How do we assess it?
Every consultation begins with understanding.
Your assessment may include:
- Medical consultation
- Advanced skin analysis
- Medical photography
- Review of skincare and previous treatments
- Hormonal and medical history
- Lifestyle assessment
- Blood biomarkers where clinically indicated
Our approach
Our aim is to understand not only the severity of your acne, but the factors that may be contributing to it.
We don’t believe acne is managed with a single product or treatment.
Our approach combines medical expertise, evidence-based skincare, regenerative technologies and, where appropriate, investigation into the factors contributing to your acne. The goal is not simply to clear the skin today, but to improve skin health and reduce the likelihood of future breakouts, pigmentation and scarring.
Every recommendation is evidence-based, carefully sequenced and tailored to your individual skin.
