Skin Laxity
What is skin laxity?
Skin laxity refers to the gradual loss of firmness, elasticity and support that occurs as we age. It can affect the face, neck and body, often resulting in looser skin, softening of facial contours and reduced definition.
Although commonly described as “loose skin”, skin laxity is rarely caused by changes in the skin alone.
Why does it happen?
Skin laxity develops as the structures that support the skin gradually change over time.
Contributing factors include:
- Reduced collagen and elastin production
- Changes in facial fat compartments
- Loss of bone support
- Hormonal changes
- Sun damage
- Genetics
- Weight fluctuations
- Lifestyle and environmental factors
Why treating the cause matters
These changes occur at different rates for different people, which is why no two faces age in exactly the same way.
Not all skin laxity has the same underlying cause.
For one person, collagen loss may be the main driver. For another, changes in facial volume or deeper structural support may play a greater role. Treating the skin alone may not address the underlying problem.
Understanding which layers are changing allows us to recommend the most appropriate treatment—or combination of treatments—to achieve natural, balanced results.
How do we assess it?
Every consultation begins with understanding.
Your assessment may include:
- Medical consultation
- Advanced skin analysis
- Facial assessment at rest and in movement
- Medical photography
- Review of previous treatments
- Lifestyle and medical history
Our approach
Rather than looking only at the skin, we assess the face as a whole to understand where support has been lost and which layers should be addressed.
We don’t believe skin laxity is solved by a single treatment.
Our approach considers every layer contributing to facial support—from skin quality and collagen to deeper structural changes. Depending on your individual assessment, we may recommend regenerative treatments, energy-based technologies or procedures that work together as part of a carefully sequenced strategy.
Every recommendation is made with purpose, aiming to restore support while preserving natural movement and facial harmony.
