Fine Lines & Wrinkles
What are fine lines and wrinkles?
Fine lines and wrinkles are a natural part of the ageing process. Some develop through repeated facial expression, while others appear as collagen, elastin and skin quality gradually decline over time.
Although often grouped together, not all wrinkles are the same—and understanding the difference is the first step towards choosing the most appropriate treatment.
Why do they happen?
Wrinkles develop for a variety of reasons, including:
- Repeated facial movement
- Reduced collagen and elastin production
- Sun damage
- Changes in skin quality
- Loss of hydration
- Genetics
- Hormonal changes
- Lifestyle factors such as smoking, stress and sleep
Why treating the cause matters
Most people develop a combination of dynamic and static wrinkles as they age.
Not every wrinkle should be treated in the same way.
Some are caused primarily by muscle movement. Others reflect collagen loss, reduced skin quality or changes in the deeper supporting structures of the face.
Relaxing a muscle may improve one type of wrinkle, while another may benefit more from stimulating collagen, improving skin quality or restoring structural support.
Understanding what is driving the wrinkle allows us to recommend the most appropriate treatment—and often a more natural, longer-lasting result.
How do we assess it?
Every consultation begins with understanding.
Your assessment may include:
- Dynamic facial assessment
- Static facial assessment
- Advanced skin analysis
- Medical photography
- Skin quality assessment
- Review of previous treatments
Our approach
Rather than looking only at the wrinkle itself, we assess how your skin, muscles and facial structure work together.
We don’t believe every wrinkle needs relaxing, filling or resurfacing.
Our approach is to understand what is causing the wrinkle first, then recommend the most appropriate intervention—whether that means muscle relaxation, regenerative treatments, collagen stimulation, laser technology or simply improving overall skin quality.
Every recommendation has a purpose and forms part of a personalised strategy designed around natural, long-term results.

Zarya Insight
Wrinkles rarely develop in isolation. They are often one visible sign of changes occurring across the skin, muscles, fat and deeper supporting structures of the face. Looking beyond the wrinkle itself allows us to recommend treatments that look more natural and age more gracefully.
