Access for All

Accessibility

Our Commitment

ZARYA Clinic is committed to providing respectful and inclusive access to its premises, information and services. We aim to anticipate and remove barriers where reasonably possible and to make reasonable adjustments for disabled people in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.

Patients are encouraged to tell us about mobility, sensory, communication, neurodiversity, learning, health or support needs when enquiring or booking. Advance notice helps us plan safely, but we will also consider requests made on arrival where reasonably practicable.

Location

Zarya Clinic’s permanent home will be located on the ground floor and all have step free access to reception and clinical areas. During the pop up phase, our treatment suite is located on the 1st floor and our preventative medicine suite is located on the 2nd floor. There is lift access to both floors. Patients who would benefit from assistance on arrival should contact the clinic in advance where possible.

Toilet Facilities

Zarya Clinic’s permanent home will provide an ambulant accessible toilet with support rails and additional space. It is not a fully wheelchair-accessible WC designed for all independent or assisted wheelchair transfers and is not a Changing Places facility.

During the pop up phase, please contact the clinic in advance for ambulant or wheelchair-accessible needs.

Patients who require a fully wheelchair-accessible WC, specialist hoist, adult changing bench or other transfer facilities should contact us before attending. We will discuss reasonable options, which may include timing adjustments, use of a suitable nearby agreed facility, an alternative consultation method where appropriate, or delivery at another suitable location if available. An external facility should not be described as guaranteed unless a current written access arrangement is in place.

Communication and Sensory Needs

Reasonable communication adjustments may include:

  • Additional time and clear, paced explanations.
  • Accessible electronic documents or larger-print information where available.
  • Communication by email or text where appropriate.
  • Support from a carer, advocate or interpreter arranged by the patient or clinic as agreed.
  • Reduced sensory stimulation or adjusted appointment timing where reasonably possible.
  • Reading information aloud or explaining forms without pressuring the patient.

Patients should tell us if they need a particular format or communication method. Some specialist formats or interpreters may require advance notice and may be subject to availability and a fair prior agreement about cost where the clinic is not legally required to bear it.

Neurodiversity, Learning Disability and Mental Health

The clinic will consider adjustments such as a quieter appointment time, clear step-by-step explanations, extra processing time, advance information, support-person attendance and reduced waiting. Capacity and consent are assessed for the specific decision and are not assumed solely from a diagnosis or disability.

Reasonable Adjustments

Possible adjustments include:

  • Additional appointment time.
  • Assistance with arrival and orientation.
  • Alternative seating or treatment-room setup.
  • Accessible information and communication preferences.
  • Carer, advocate or support-worker attendance.
  • Adjusted appointment timing.
  • Alternative consultation arrangements where clinically and operationally appropriate.

What is reasonable depends on effectiveness, practicability, safety, cost, available resources, the nature of the service and the individual circumstances. Decisions will not be based on disability alone.

Individual Accessibility and Safety Assessment

Where significant needs are identified, the clinic may discuss mobility, transfer method, wheelchair dimensions, positioning, communication, sensory needs, carer support, toilet requirements, emergency evacuation and treatment-room suitability. Information will be recorded only as necessary and handled in accordance with the Privacy Notice.

Emergency Evacuation

The clinic maintains emergency procedures that consider people with mobility, sensory and communication needs. Where necessary, an individual emergency arrangement may be agreed before or at the appointment. Patients should tell staff if they may require assistance in an emergency.

Website Accessibility

We aim to make the website perceivable, operable, understandable and robust and to follow recognised accessibility good practice, including WCAG 2.2 Level AA where reasonably practicable. This includes appropriate heading structure, text alternatives for meaningful images, keyboard access, visible focus, readable contrast, scalable text, descriptive links, labelled forms and accessible error messages.

Some third-party booking, payment, map, video or social-media content may have accessibility limitations outside our direct control. We will seek reasonable alternatives where a user cannot access essential information or complete a necessary action.

Contacting Us About Accessibility

To request an adjustment, report a barrier or ask about access, contact:

  • Email: info@zaryaclinic.com

Please describe the barrier, the adjustment requested and, for website issues, the page or task affected. We will consider the request promptly and respond with available options.

No Blanket Refusal

A person will not be refused access solely because of disability. However, a particular treatment, room or method of delivery may be changed, deferred or declined where an individual assessment identifies a genuine safety, clinical, consent, equipment or practicability issue that cannot be addressed through a reasonable adjustment. Where possible, the clinic will discuss an alternative route.
